Rachel studied Law at Durham University before completing the Legal Practice Course at York College of Law. Rachel has worked in Middlesbrough since 2002 when she joined Freers as a Trainee Solicitor. She qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and became a partner in 2009. She is now one of the Directors at Freers Askew Bunting.

Rachel is qualified as a Duty Solicitor on the Teesside Duty Solicitor Scheme and is fully accredited to represent detained persons at the police station. Rachel appears daily at both the Magistrates' Court and the Crown Court. Having gained her Higher Rights of Audience, she specialises in cases being heard at the Crown Court, regularly representing clients in trials and at sentencing hearings for a wide range of offences.

Rachel has extensive experience in preparing complex cases, including those of national interest, for Crown Court trial by instructing experts and briefing senior counsel. Rachel has successfully appealed a number of cases to the Court of Appeal. She is a member of the Law Society's Advocacy Section.
